Baseball's Return to the Olympics in Los Angeles 2028: Progress and Uncertainty

Preparations are underway for baseball's return to the Olympic program in Los Angeles 2028. However, a key issue remains unresolved - whether MLB players will participate. This is a matter of great concern for event organizers and stakeholders.

As early as three years before the Olympic flame is lit in Los Angeles, Casey Wasserman, the president of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Organizing Committee, has been working to clear the obstacles for the highly - anticipated return of baseball. One of the first key decisions made was to select Dodger Stadium as the venue. This week, in a conversation with Sam Connon from Fastball on SI, Wasserman confirmed that the iconic Dodger Stadium will serve as the main venue. He said, "We know that one of the things we're good at in Los Angeles is organizing important baseball games, whether it's the Olympics, the World Series, the World Baseball Classic, or the All - Star Game. Dodger Stadium has hosted the greatest games on earth and will do an excellent job in 2028. It's going to be great for the players and the fans."

Nevertheless, the big question of whether MLB stars will participate in the 2028 Olympics remains unanswered. While the choice of venue has been settled, the participation of professional baseball players is crucial for the success and appeal of the Olympic baseball event. Organizers hope to find a solution to this issue in the coming years to ensure a spectacular baseball competition in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
