Business Forum Calls for Madrid to Bid for Olympics

The GroupForoEmpresarial, a business organization in Madrid, is advocating for the Spanish capital to bid for the Olympic Games. The group believes that bold ideas and long - term ambitions are necessary to transform Madrid into a more competitive, innovative, and socially cohesive city.

Established in 2015, the GroupForoEmpresarial is an association dedicated to safeguarding the interests of local businesses. It recently unveiled a set of ten proposals for the next 15 years, among which is the renewed push for Madrid to bid for the Olympics. Hilario Alfaro, the president of the organization, stated, "We cannot become complacent. Madrid needs bold policies and new ideas." He urged city authorities to "take risks like entrepreneurs." In this context, he encouraged Madrid to prepare a bid for the 2040 Olympics. "There is still time to make this happen," he added.

Alfaro further emphasized that Madrid requires projects that span 8 to 12 years, equivalent to two to three political terms. "If we want to grow and compete at the highest level, we must take risks like entrepreneurs do every day, not like politicians," he said. The call for a bid comes at a time when Madrid is looking for ways to enhance its global standing and drive economic and social development through large - scale projects.
